Social studies: Hunger-fighting gala always in good Taste

BOSTON HERALD – When this town’s enthusiasm for great food crosses paths with its generous heart, magical things can happen. Take Taste of the Nation for Share Our Strength on June 7 at Cruiseport Boston. The celebrated culinary shindig gathers some of the area’s most esteemed chefs and mixologists for a night of noshing, sipping and dancing — all to help end childhood hunger.

According to nokid hungry.org, one in five kids struggle with hunger in the United States, and more than 270,000 of those children are here in the Bay State. You can help by joining emcee Taniya Nayak (of the Food Network’s “Restaurant: Impossible”) and such distinguished chefs as Jody Adams, Michael Scelfo, Mary Dumont and Andy Husbands for this killer culinary celebration.

Among the many restaurants participating: Tiger Mama, Doretta Taverna, SRV, Row 34, Flour Bakery & Cafe, 80 Thoreau and Oleana.

Tickets are $95 ($150 for VIP) and can be purchased at www.nokidhungry.org/boston.
