Bio

Taniya Nayak’s Boston upbringing was shaped by her fun-loving and creative family, all from India, and influenced by her father, a talented architect. It was only a matter of time before her passion for interior design would spark.

Shortly after attending Boston Architectural College, her design style and upbeat personality landed Taniya her first TV gig on ABC Family’s Knock First, working for Scout Productions, the creators of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Taniya was one of four designers/hosts of the hit show, geared toward hip, ambitious teens. She then made the move to HGTV as a designer on the edgy series FreeStyle, encouraging homeowners to get imaginative with things they already had in their homes. Since then, Taniya has joined the expert team of HGTV’s popular show, Designed to Sell, where she helps homeowners transform their homes with only $2,000 before putting them on the market.

Taniya started her design firm, Taniya Nayak Design LLC., to fill a void that she saw in the design world. Having designed for a wide range of ages and spaces, she focuses on creating affordable yet inspirational spaces that capture her clients’ individual personalities while maintaining comfort and function. A large part of her company centers on helping people get “uninspired” homes ready for top-dollar sales through staging and minor renovations. When making improvements, she believes in distinguishing a home so that it stands out from the competition.

In 2004, Taniya was ranked in the top 10 of INDIA New England’s Business Women of the Year. Her list of clients includes celebrities Jesse Metcalfe of Desperate Housewives, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Erik Per Sullivan of Malcolm in the Middle and Tyler Christopher of General Hospital. Taniya’s designs can be seen in several Boston hotspots including Felt, BarLola Restaurant, Zita and Vinalia.

Taniya proudly conducts presentations and makes appearances to help people get a better sense of how to add value to their homes without spending a fortune.
